Work History and Background:
This is my 22nd year of employment with the Derry Area School District. I started my career at DASD as an Elementary and High School PE teacher. I taught a year of 8th grade Health. My position over the last decade has been teaching Middle School PE. I love working with this age group, they are fun, energetic, coachable, interested and sometimes total teenagers. My background in the DASD consists of being a part of many committees and teams. I was the assistant Varsity Soccer coach my first year and then enjoyed coaching Middle School Volleyball for a few years. I work with my department/community members to organize our Derry's Scrambled Legs 5K race. I currently sit on our SHIELD team, supporting students as a teacher mentor . I am the 6-12 SKI/SNOWBOARD advisor, and currently finished up as an instructor for our K-8 after school FIT CLUB. I am also our K-12 Department Chairperson.
Middle School Physical Education:
The purpose of this course is to promote general health and wellness through physical activity. This includes participating in physical fitness based activities that help to build a healthier lifestyle. Components such as cardiovascular, core and muscular strength, and flexibility, as well as the forming of gross motor skills will be gained in this course. We want to give students the ability to create their own fitness regimen as they see fit or enjoy. Various skills will also be used in settings that can vary from team and individual sports, as well as wellness/fitness activities that will prepare you both physically and mentally for everyday living.
