Welcome From Mrs. Casey

My education includes a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a minor in art from Shippensburg University and a master’s degree in reading with a reading specialist certificate from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. In addition, Derry Area School District offered me the amazing training opportunity to become Reading Recovery certified.

Teaching has always been my passion and calling, especially advocating and helping young readers find enjoyment and success in reading.  My career has always been dedicated to our amazing district and community.  I taught a first-grade classroom and the Reading Recovery program for eleven years at New Derry Elementary School.  My reading background led to a career path change as a reading specialist/Title I teacher and instructional leader at Loyalhanna Elementary School.  I have continued as a reading specialist at Grandview Elementary School servicing kindergarten-third grade students.
