DASD COVID-19 Tracker
- A COVID+ case that is part of the 5-day look back period for a school building includes any individual (students or staff) with a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19 who was physically present in the school setting while infectious, including but not limited to: instruction, work, sports, or extracurricular activities.
- On March 1, 2024, the CDC updated the recommendations and guidelines for respiratory virus, which now includes COVID-19. Additionally, the CDC is no longer advising of a 5-day quarantine period for COVID-19. As such, our school nurses are no longer able to cover any undocumented absences related to this illness beyond what is permitted in the school code.
- Parents/guardians no longer need to reference the multiple column symptom screening tool associated with COVID-19. If an student/employee has a respiratory virus, he/she can return to school/work when, for at least 24 hours both are true: symptoms are getting better overall, and no fever without the use of fever-reducing medications.
- As per school code, parents/guardians are permitted to write ten excuses for absences per school year for their school-aged child. After this threshold, parents/guardians must obtain a doctor’s only note for absences beyond ten (10) in a school year for the absence to be excused.
- Please contact your child’s school office or school nurse should you have any questions.
